It's been a while...

... sorry to all of our faithful blog readers (aka our moms), for the lack of blogging lately.  I'll quickly try to catch you up on what's been going on.

So, Mike and a friend took a road trip to Colorado to ski powder since it never snows in Tahoe anymore.  I was hoping he would write a post about his adventures... but that still hasn't happened.

Anyway, just a few days after he got home, he had a friend from NY fly in for a visit.  Ironically, he came out here to go skiing even though NY is having an epic snow year and Tahoe, well, we have blue skies and warm weather!  To make matters even worse, Mike and I caught the crud right before his friend arrived.  We were probably horrible hosts... coughing... blowing our noses... hacking up our lungs... etc.  He was such a great sport though and still got in a lot of spring skiing.

In other news, I've started training for a half marathon.  It's in June... 8 days before my 30th birthday so I will be able to check that off the bucket list JUST in time.  It's here in Tahoe and it's probably going to be tough.  It will be scenic and beautiful and luckily I have some friends training with me, but it's gonna be a challenge for sure.  So, lately my time has been spent on trying to get more exercise!

Speaking of exercise, yesterday Mike and I decided to do a little mountain biking.  Sadly, we can ride almost all the trails around here because there's NO snow!  We can ride our bikes to one of the trails from our house, climb for about 5 minutes, then ride all the way down to Stateline (at lake level), hop on a bus and ride back up to our house!  So, we did 2 laps!  I am loving my new bike.  I feel like I'm able to ride things that I would have had to walk on my old bike.

Today, we went on an adventure.  Mike heard about some hot springs from a friend and we went 4-wheelin' to scope it out.  It's about 10 miles down a very bumpy road... and I mean VERY bumpy.  We had no idea where we were going but decided to just keep driving.  We passed a few other people and asked them about the hot springs... they confirmed we were going the right way so we just kept going.  With no idea what to expect at the end of the road, we were pleasantly surprised!

There are 2 man made pools that collect the water.  It was the PERFECT temperature and we had the place all to ourselves!

1st CREEK CROSSING (of several)

IT'S BEAUTIFUL... BUT WHERE ARE WE?

WE FINALLY FOUND A SPRING...
NOW TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO CROSS THE RIVER
Clearly, people cross the river because the road leads right into the water, and there's road coming OUT of the water on the other side.  But, after inspecting it, we made the smart decision to leave the truck behind, find the shallowest part of the river, and walk across.  We did see another truck drive across but it was a little sketchy.

ZATER HAD NO PROBLEMS CROSSING THE CHILLY RIVER
We finally made it across and it was TOTALLY worth it.

SO, THE BEER IS FROM COLORADO AND THE CAN SAYS TO POST
PICTURES OF YOUR CAN IN COOL PLACES...
THUS THE REASON FOR SO MANY PICS WITH A BEER CAN IN IT

There was a decent view of the river from the hot spring!

The second pool was REALLY nice, but a little farther from the river and MUCH hotter!

After all that relaxing in the warm water, we had to brave the icy waters of the river to get back to the truck....luckily it was only knee deep.

NOPE... NOT DRIVING ACROSS THAT!
At the end of the day we came home, cooked a healthy dinner, and realized that today was "a really good day."  We feel very blessed to be able to explore this world!

Sorry again that it took me so long to update the blog.  I'm hoping to get back into a routine.
Love you east coasters!  Miss y'all!  See you in a couple of weeks NC!!!!
