Good Ol' North Carolina

A couple of weeks ago I flew home to spend a week with the family.  As always, it was a wonderful week!

WORKING HARD ON PAINTING WENDELL ROCKS

WE WENT OUT IN THE YARD AND FOUND SOME GOOD ROCKS...
PAINTED THEM...
AND THEN HID THEM DOWNTOWN FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO FIND.
I LOVE MY SMALL HOMETOWN.

We went bowling.

LAINEY BOWLING.

FIN BOWLING.

JUJU BOWLING... LOOK AT THAT FORM!
NO WONDER SHE WON THE GAME!

THE BOWLING ALLEY HAD AN ARCADE.

WE PLAYED A LOT OF AIR HOCKEY.

We visited Mike's mom and got to enjoy her backyard pool (and one of her dogs).

THE KIDS LOVED MAKEDA.

WE SHOULD'VE GOTTEN A PICTURE WITH
MRS. ANNE IN IT!!!!
THANKS AGAIN FOR LETTING US ENJOY
YOUR POOL!!!!  AND FOR FEEDING US YUMMY
SNACKS!

AND SHE LET US PICK SOME VEGGIES FROM HER GARDEN!

We went to a Mudcat's game!

We hid our rocks downtown and had ice cream at the general store!

JUST SITTING OUTSIDE OF THE GENERAL STORE

And we headed down to the river to spend some time with the whole family (minus a few who couldn't make it).  I always love this part of the summer.  I love getting to see everyone and just relaxing, playing, and eating delicious food all weekend!

THE KIDS DID SOME FISHING.

AND ONCE THE ALGAE CLEARED OUT A BIT, THEY WERE
ABLE TO DO SOME SWIMMING FINALLY!

I THINK IT'S SAFE TO SAY WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME!

As usual, it was a whirlwind of a trip.  It's like I blink and it's over.  But, I'm so grateful to be able to spend time with these amazing people.  I love being able to watch my brother's kids grow up and I love the people they are becoming!  And I had no idea how desperately I needed to spend some time with my cousins who have had babies and could tell me what to expect going forward!

As always, a HUGE thank you to Uncle Clyde and Aunt Sylvia for letting us come and stay at Mt. Gould.  I love that place and the time with all of you and I can't wait to do it again next year (with our new addition to the family).  And big thanks to Aunt PJ and Uncle Graham for bringing Bunn's BBQ for dinner (that totally made my week).

Thanks mom and dad for driving to the airport endlessly that week!  And for housing me and feeding me all week (and refusing to let me pay for ANYTHING).  Love you guys!

Until next time, NC!

Winnemucca Lake Hike

I've gotten way behind on blogging and I apologize.  We've been pretty busy lately and I've been pretty tired!  But a few weeks ago we headed up to Winnemucca Lake.  It's a 6ish mile hike round trip.  It's a pretty easy hike overall and the wildflowers up there were simply AMAZING!

This is one of our favorite hikes.  We've hiked it before but every time we hike it again I'm reminded of how awesome and beautiful this place is.  Without further ado... enjoy some pictures of nature's beauty...

AT 9,000+ FEET ELEVATION WE STILL HAVE SOME SNOW!

THE START OF THE WILDFLOWERS!

We had a wonderful day.  Zephyr got to run, swim, play with other dogs, and play in the snow!  That's a pretty good day!

As if this place couldn't get any better, we've lately had some amazing sunsets!

Summer in Tahoe is absolutely indescribable!  We feel so fortunate to be able to enjoy this place.  And we can't wait to share this magical place with our new little addition to the family!
