Mike's First Father's Day!!!

Before I jump to Father's Day... here's a quick little glimpse at what we've been up to lately:

THE WEATHER IS PERFECT AND OUR DECK IS
SHADY... WE SPEND MOST AFTERNOONS
LOUNGING OUTSIDE THESE DAYS.

SWEET BROTHERS.

CLAYTON IS GRABBING AT EVERYTHING LATELY.
HE IS GOOD AT GRABBING A FIST FULL OF Z'S
FUR... BUT SWEET ZEPHYR JUST LICKS HIM.

BEST FRIENDS???

Z SNEAKING IN SOME LICKS

THESE ARE GOOD DAYS.

"MY BIG BROTHER IS A GOLDEN RETRIEVER."
AND HIS BIG BELLY IS FULL OF MILK...
THIS PIC WAS TAKEN SHORTLY AFTER EATING.

We attempted a beach playdate with our friend but weren't able to stay long (notice the storm clouds in the background???).

It was still nice to get the boys together, and for us mom's to get together too!
This was the first time they got to interact with each other... we usually just go for walks and they can't even see each other.

We had one really fussy day; still not really sure why.  He wouldn't nap anywhere, even in the swing which is his FAVORITE!  In the morning we went for a long walk in the stroller around the neighborhood and in the afternoon he just snuggled on the couch with mom.

THAT'S SOME GOOD SLEEP!
AND IT WAS COLD IN THE HOUSE BECAUSE WE HAVE A PORTABLE
AIR CONDITIONER SO WE DON'T HAVE TO HAVE THE WINDOWS
OPEN DURING POLLEN SEASON!

All week we've been trying to show Mike how much we love and appreciate him.  We've given him little gifts (his favorite m&m's, a beer can piggy bank, a slice of chocolate cake, etc) each day.  Saturday we gave him a mug with Clayton's foot prints and Sunday, we gave him this:

A FRAMED PICTURE OF CLAYTON IN MIKE'S
SKI PATROL GEAR!
Sunday morning after opening his present, we went to a little diner down the street called The Red Hut for a delicious, greasy breakfast.  Then, we headed out to Emerald Bay to hike to Eagle Lake.
This was Clayton's first hike and he was a TROOPER!  He did so great!

ONE HAPPY BABY.
THE PACK IS STILL A BIT BIG FOR HIM SO WE
STUFFED A TOWEL AROUND HIM AND
CALLED IT GOOD ENOUGH.

THE WATERFALLS WERE RIPPIN'!

THAT'S A LOT OF FAST MOVING, ICY COLD WATER.

EAGLE LAKE!

HE DIDN'T LAST LONG WITH HIS FEET IN THE
WATER.  IT'S COLD.

THIS LITTLE TROOPER WAS STILL HAPPY AS CAN BE!

SO GOOD TO BE BACK OUT IN NATURE!

IT'S A LITTLE DARK BUT I LOVE THIS PICTURE.
MIKE IS SUCH A WONDERFUL FATHER.
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE MEMORIES THESE
TWO WILL HAVE.

DAD HAD TO LET HIM TOUCH THE WATER!

EMERALD BAY IS IN THE BACKGROUND.

HE'S STILL SO HAPPY!

WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME.

After the hike we headed to Ale Worx for a FREE Father's Day beer for Dad!  Then home to shower and relax.  It was a great day!

Mike,
You are the absolute best.  Period.  I can't thank you enough for everything you do.  You will be a wonderful role model for Clayton and I am so grateful for you!  We love you!

Welcome Summer!

School's out!!!  WOOHOO!  It's my favorite time of the year.  Although I have to work summer school, it's a much easier schedule than the rest of the year.

And, our weather has been LOVELY lately.  YES!!!  I love summer!

Here's what we've been up to lately (in pictures, naturally).

PLAYTIME WITH MY BUDDY, JEREMIAH.

BEACH EVENINGS TO LET THE DOG SWIM!

GOING FOR A RUN BY THE LAKE!

STILL CRUSHING SOLID FOODS!

WE'VE EXHAUSTED OURSELVES WITH RUNNING
DAILY ERRANDS.

WE'VE LOUNGED AROUND THE HOUSE.

CLAYTON LOVES PLAYTIME WITH DAD!!!

WE SPENT AN AFTERNOON AT THE BEACH,
CELEBRATING AT A BABY SHOWER FOR
OUR FRIENDS WHOSE LITTLE BOY IS DUE
IN JULY!!!
CLAYTON CAN'T WAIT TO MEET HIS NEW FRIEND!

THIS WAS THE "TIRED DADS" PORTION OF THE BEACH.

CLAYTON GOT PASSED AROUND AND LOVED
EVERY SECOND OF IT.
THERE WAS SO MUCH STUFF TO GRAB ON THIS
TABLE!  HE WAS IN HEAVEN!

MORE GLORIOUS BEACH DAYS.

TUMMY TIME ON THE BEACH!

CLAYTON WENT TO WORK WITH MOM!
(EXCUSE THE MESS IN THE BACKGROUND)

SOMEONE WANTED TO SEE WHAT MOM WAS
DOING ON THE COMPUTER!

WE ARE STILL NAPPING IN THE SWING!
WE KEEP TRYING NAPS IN THE CRIB BUT
CLAYTON JUST WON'T HAVE ANY PART OF THAT.
THANK GOODNESS FOR THE SWING.
NOT SURE WHAT WE WILL DO WHEN HE
GROWS OUT OF IT!
MEANWHILE HE SLEEPS IN HIS CRIB EVERY NIGHT
WITHOUT A PROBLEM!  GRATEFUL FOR THAT!!!

Well, that's the latest from Tahoe.
We've been celebrating Mike all week since Father's Day is coming up!
We've given him 1 gift a day (little stuff... like a box of his favorite candy, etc) but that's not nearly enough to show him how much we love and appreciate him.  We have some upcoming adventures so stay tuned!

Dedication

This will be a short post... mainly because it's late and I'm tired.  Life has been awesome and exhausting lately.  I love this age with Clayton but I'm still trying to figure out the mom/wife/work/life balance and that is so tiring.  In a nutshell, I've been trying to get out and enjoy Tahoe more lately.  I've been trying to resume some of my pre-pregnancy hobbies and although it was a challenge in the beginning (because it adds ONE more thing to do during my seemingly already packed day), I can honestly say it's been helping my mental state.  I need to get out in nature and soak up the beauty around me while hopefully also squeezing in a workout (because multi-tasking is the only way this momma can get things done).

This past week I got out for a run, a paddle, and a mountain bike ride.  Hallelujah!

WE RAN TO THE BEACH AND BACK TO THE CAR BEFORE
THE STORM!

PUSHED BABY IN THE STROLLER AND HE ACTUALLY NAPPED!

DOGGIE GOT A GOOD SWIM AND RUN

SHHH... THERE'S A SLEEPING BABE IN THAT STROLLER!

ON THE RUN BACK TO THE CAR, Z FOUND
A STICK (IT WAS PRACTICALLY A DOWNED TREE).
HE TRIED HARD TO CARRY IT BUT JUST HAD
TO GIVE UP.

AH YES.  FINALLY.

BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL MORNING

JUST TESTING THE HIKING BACKPACK
(A SWEET HAND-ME-DOWN FROM A CO-WORKER)

HE'S ALMOST READY FOR A HIKE!
In Clayton news:
He's been eating solids and loving it!

YUMMY OATMEAL CEREAL.

IT'S EVERYWHERE BUT HE SEEMS TO LOVE IT

MESSY SWEET POTATOES

TUMMY TIME!!!

And we participated in a parent/child dedication at church!
