Stay At Home

We have literally been told to stay home to SAVE LIVES!  How crazy is that?

I love being at home.  LOVE it!  But, it is challenging to stay inside.  Luckily for us, our county hasn't issued a "shelter in place" order yet.  So, we can still get outside as long as we keep a social distance from others.  Mike and I get outside daily to exercise but we stay away from other people and try not to touch... anything!

We did have to do a quick grocery run but we chose to do a pickup order and tried to get enough food for 2 weeks to minimize our exposure by having to run out frequently to the store.

Other than that, here's how we're making the best of this strange situation:

We went sledding at Boulder Lodge (Heavenly Ski Resort):

WE POSED FOR A PICTURE ON BOULDER CHAIR

We bought Clayton a little tent recently... thinking we could use it on the beach in Hawaii (we had a trip to Maui booked for April 9th but that will be getting cancelled unfortunately).  Anyway, he has LOVED playing in his little tent:

DARKNESS AND LIGHT

THIS KID LOVES TO BE IN A BOX

We have gone for lots of walks in the neighborhood:

We have done lots of reading...

We tamed some wild bedhead:

LOVE HOW HE'S SMILING AT DAD

We played dress up in dad's hat...

And Mike and I have taken turns getting outside for some exercise:

GRATEFUL TO LIVE IN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL
PLACE... BUT ALSO GRATEFUL FOR THE TIME
AND HEALTH TO GET OUT AND ENJOY IT!

LOTS OF PEOPLE OUT GETTING SOME FRESH

UNFORTUNATELY LOTS OF THEM WEREN'T
KEEPING THEIR DISTANCE AND THAT IS WHY THIS
WILL LAST MONTHS!!!

MY REST STOP BEFORE SKIING DOWN

Ironically, we have had the best snowfall AFTER the mountain closed because of Coronavirus.  I've skied some awesome powder but you have to earn your turns and you only get one run down the hill (unless you want to hike back up).  It's hard but more rewarding.  And... it's an AWESOME workout.

The saddest part of staying home has been watching Zephyr mope around the house because he wants so badly to go to work.  He doesn't understand that the mountain is closed.  So, Mike has been getting him out occasionally to do some searching.  It keeps him happy and he doesn't lose his skills.

I hope that if you're reading this, you are staying home and staying well!  Staying home has its challenges but try to savor this time!  It will be over before we know it (I hope)!

2020

We've had lots of "firsts" in 2020.  Clayton's first haircut.  Clayton's first swimming lesson.  Clayton's first milkshake....

WHY DOES HE LOOK SO GROWN?

HANDSOME BOY

HE LOVED IT!!!!

HE LOVED THIS TOO!

We also celebrated Clayton's first STEPS and his first BIRTHDAY!!!

THOSE BABY BLUE EYES!!!

The weather has been FANTASTIC so far in 2020.  We've had super warm days and we've been getting out to enjoy it.  I didn't take many pictures in February, but here's a glimpse:

WE WENT TO SKI PATROL SKATE NIGHT

WE TOOK LOTS OF WALKS

WE WALKED TO BEAUTIFUL PLACES

WE PLAYED OUTSIDE A LOT

SWEET HAPPY BABY

NOT A BAD VIEW ON THIS WALK.

And that brings us to March.  What a crazy month March has been so far.  We started the month of March by booking a trip to Maui in April for Spring Break (we will be cancelling or postponing that trip now, thank you Coronavirus).  Everything seemed to change overnight!
Now, schools are closed until AT LEAST April 16th!!!
Vail Resorts have ALL closed, potentially for the season!
Mike, myself, and baby all find ourselves at home.  All the time.

We are so used our routine.  We are used to getting up and having things to do.  Now, we find ourselves in this weird situation with everyone else in America.  Not that you asked, but here's how we are coping:
We are taking things one day at time.
We don't stress about what we are going to do tomorrow.  We focus on today.
We move our bodies.
We get outside.
We try to find things to do to stay somewhat busy.
We keep the house tidy.
We turn the TV off - it could easily stay on ALL day long in our house.

These is a lot of anxiety in our country right now.  These times are unsettling.  But, there have been days when I've dreamed of someone telling me that I have to stay home for a couple of weeks.  And even though this staycation may end up being a month or longer, I am going to do my very best to enjoy it as much as possible.  And I will give thanks daily for my health and the health of my family.

With store shelves empty, I've recognized how wasteful I am with paper towels and toilet paper.  Now, I think twice before grabbing 2 or 3 sheets of paper towels.  Why do I need to use a paper towel for a snack?  Why can't I put it on a plate?  Same with ziploc bags.  Can it be stored in tupperware so that ziploc bag doesn't end up in a landfill?

Anyway, I'm pointing this out because I feel like this is something really eye-opening and beneficial to come from this situation.  I hope you are recognizing things about yourself during this time.  And finding ways to possibly better yourself. I REALLY believe we are all going to come of this as a better and stronger country.

Ok, enough words.  Let's do a picture recap of March so far:

IT FINALLY SNOWED!!!
JUST IN TIME FOR THE RESORTS TO CLOSE
FOR CORONAVIRUS.

Before the craziness ensued, Pa and JuJu came out for visit!  Their trip got cut a little bit short due to fears that their flight would be cancelled.  We hate that we got less time with them, but we're super grateful for the time we had.  Unfortunately though, I only took ONE picture.  What was I thinking?

C LOVED HIS WALKS WITH JUJU!

WE BOUGHT C A TENT!
HE HAS LOVED PLAYING IN IT!

Mike and Zephyr were out of town while Pa and JuJu were visiting.  The boys went to Wyoming for training.  They had a great time and learned a lot.  Unfortunately though, the mountain closed as soon as they got back.  They haven't really been able to practice what they learned much.

WHEELER AND ZEPHYR HAD LOTS OF BONDING
TIME ON THE LONG DRIVE TO WYOMING.

SEARCH!

TUG TUG TUG!  WAY TO FIND THEM Z!!!

WHAT A HAPPY BOY

WE WENT SLEDDING!

WE WATCHED THE PLOW TRUCKS.

WE WENT SNOWSHOEING.

FIRST FAMILY PHOTO WITH ALL 4 OF US!

We got out of the house for a walk and a trip to Target for a few supplies.  C and I stayed in the car while Mike went in.  He LOVED playing with all the buttons in the car.

HAPPY BOY!

I THINK HE REALLY WAS BORED WITH HIS
TOYS AT HOME

HE WAS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL...
TALKING TO OTHER PEOPLE...
WAVING...
AND BLOWING KISSES.

FRESH AIR IS GOOD FOR OUR SOULS DURING THIS TIME.

We also experienced a magnitude 5.0 earthquake last night.  The epicenter was just south of Carson City (maybe 20ish miles from us).  Luckily it was very short.  Crazy times folks!

Well, that was a VERY long post.  Sorry about that BUT, we are officially caught up to the present.  Woohoo!  We are hoping to still be able to get outside some, take some pictures, and we will be sharing on here whenever we can.  We sincerely hope that wherever you are reading this, you are safe, happy, and healthy!  Please stay isolated.  Please stay well!
