Decisions

Well, Mike and I have had some stress in our lives over the past week. He returned to work with lots of new protocols to keep him and his colleagues safe. I had professional development trainings all week from 8 to 3 while being a stay at home mom.  We made a huge decision to put our house on the market which obviously involves a lot of preparation and work. And of course, a bear got in my car and did 7k worth of damage.

Honestly, there have been times that I broke down because it all felt like too much. But every single one of those things is a huge blessing. We have jobs! And how lucky am I that I can do my job from home (sort of) so I can stay with our son? We are hopeful that selling our house means we are moving on to bigger and better things. And we have car insurance and they cover bear damage. Hallelujah!!!

Well, here are some pics from our lives recently. Enjoy!

Memorial Day fun!

C CLIMBS ON EVERYTHING!!!

Bear damage. Ugh.

IT SNOWED. IN JUNE. RIDICULOUS.

MORE CLIMBING.

HOW MAMA MANAGED TO GET SOME WORK DONE.

WE GOT IN SOME BEACH TIME TO DE-STRESS
That’s about it from Tahoe (and quite frankly, I think that’s quite enough).  Life has felt a little overwhelming lately. One thing that gives me tremendous peace is knowing and believing that I am not powerful enough to ever mess up God’s plan for our lives. No decision made can ruin what He has in store for us.

One last thing: I am not one to discuss politics or race or any hot button topic (especially not on this blog which is meant to be a lighthearted and fun capture of our adventures) but when George Floyd called out for his mama,  my heart broke for the world we live in. I don’t really know what to say other than I am praying for our country (including myself) and I hope you will join me.

Phasing Out of Quarantine

Things are finally opening back up!  It feels like we are headed down a path toward normalcy. May still be too soon to tell but I am hopeful. This time has been so nice but I look forward to the day when I can run into the post office or grocery store without wondering if I need to wear a mask.

Anyway, Mike and I have been taking turns mountain biking. We’ve also been taking Clayton on lots of walks to the beach. Other than that, we really haven’t done much! So, I don’t have a lot of pictures to share on this blog.

HE DIDN’T WANT TO TAKE HIS HELMUT OFF

AND HE LOVED IT!

This Memorial Day, Mike is fishing the Carson River on an overnight camping trip while Clayton and I are just chilling at home. No big plans. Just relaxing and feeling appreciative of the sacrifice of so many women and men. Happy Memorial Day!!!

Mother's Day

Well, it is Mother’s Day again. My second one ever!  I’m excited to hopefully have a relaxing day at home with my boys... ya know, basically what we’ve been doing for the last 60 days!  I guess I’m not sick of it yet!  Anyway, here’s a glimpse of what we have been up to lately:

Clayton got to use his pool... he chose to get in fully clothed.

We went on a couple of bike rides on paths along the Truckee River.

We hiked to Castle Rock for a picnic lunch.

We have had some beautiful weather lately. I am so grateful. And I’m also super grateful for our nice big deck. We’ve spent a lot of time out there during this quarantine.

CLAYTON GOT A BALANCE BIKE!

We took advantage of a free meal from one of our favorite restaurants, compliments of teacher appreciation week and since they can only do take out orders right now, we enjoyed our dinner at the park. The weather could not have been any better!

Mike and I have taken turns going for mountain bike rides and although it’s a bummer that we can’t really ride together right now, we are both loving that we have lots of opportunities to ride.

For Mother’s Day, Mike made a yummy breakfast and we went on a family bike ride to Nevada beach for a picnic lunch. We were asked to leave by the park ranger because technically the beach is still closed due to the lockdown. But, he did allow us to finish our lunch before we left and he did not give us a $5000 fine (not a typo... it’s really that high) so overall it was a great experience!

Unfortunately, Mike’s grandmother, Nana, passed away this past week. She was 97 years old!  She lived a very full life!  I’m happy she was able to go peacefully and that she’s now reunited with her husband, siblings, and her granddaughter in Heaven. But she will be greatly missed here.

As for the rest of this Mother’s Day, I’m spending it with my boys so it’s sure to be great! I hope that all mommas are being celebrated today.  It’s true what they say... mommin’ ain’t easy!!!

Earth Day

This post is a bit late. Earth day was like 2 weeks ago now but I forgot to share how we spent it. I took the day off work and we went fishing and picnicking at Topaz lake. We’ve driven by Topaz lake many times but we’ve never stopped. It was nice to explore this new-to-us area. And the weather couldn’t have been any better.

LOVE THESE OVERALLS

WE HAD LUNCH IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK

We had an awesome day. I haven’t been taking many pictures lately because my iCloud storage is full. I need to clean out my pics or upgrade my storage. But, we also haven’t been doing much. We are still under stay home orders through May 15th and we’ve been trying to take it seriously.  We have gotten out some for exercise but otherwise we are just at home, playing on our deck.

Here are a couple of videos of our battles with Clayton during mealtime.  He insists on climbing out of his high chair. And sometimes he’s just crazy and likes to eat his food right off the table.

And here is how you have to eat a snack in our house if you don’t want to share your snack with the baby or dog...

Well, that’s it for now. Stay well!
