Rainy Season

With the fall season comes "the rainy season" here in Tahoe.  This increase in moisture continues through the winter (sometimes).  Even during this rainy season, we rarely get good soaking rains.  I consider it to be a "heavy" rain if I have to turn on the windshield wipers (even if it is the lowest intermittent setting).  For the last few days, there has been NO DOUBT that we are in the rainy season.  We've actually had rain!  Lots of it.  We are basically always in a drought so the rain is a welcome sight.

Also, totally unrelated to rain, we got new cell phones which has been inspiration to take more pictures!  You are welcome.

THERE ARE A FEW FALL COLORS DOWN
IN THE VALLEY.
BEFORE THE MONSOON STARTED.

WITH BAD WEATHER COMES BEAUTIFUL RAINBOWS!

I TOOK WAY TO MANY PICTURES OF THIS RAINBOW.

THE LOWEST POINT IN THE MOUNTAINS IS DAGGETT PASS...
WE LIVE UP THERE.

IT WAS ACTUALLY A DOUBLE RAINBOW BUT IT'S HARD TO TELL
IN THIS PICTURE

BUT YOU CAN SEE IT IN THIS ONE!

IT WAS SO BRIGHT!

The rainbow was spectacular and totally got me excited about our upcoming trip to Hawaii to see my sister-in-law.

It has been so nice to have a lazy, rainy weekend.  I cleaned the house and started packing.  I'm making a bunch of food (soups, etc) to go in the freezer.

WHEN THE WEATHER LOOKS LIKE THIS OUT....

... YOU STAY INSIDE AND CARVE A PUMPKIN...

... AND YOU MAKE CINNAMON ROLLS.
All this rain makes me continuously think about North Carolina and all of the areas that are still flooded after Hurricane Matthew.  Lots of places that were a big part of my childhood are still under water (Windsor, Kinston, Goldsboro, etc).  I'm so glad my friends and family are all safe but my heart still hurts for everyone who is still dealing with the fact that they've lost everything.  Home is something you think will always be there.  It's your safe haven.  But, my faith in humanity has been slightly restored (despite this disaster of an election year) when I see posts on facebook of strangers helping strangers during their tough times.  I wish there was more I could do to help but for now, I will continue to pray.  MUCH LOVE TO NC AS ALWAYS!!!!  XOXO.
